For God, the Faithful One, is not unfair. How can he forget the beautiful work you have done for him? He remembers the love you demonstrate as you continually serve his beloved ones for the glory of his name. Hebrews 6:10 (TPT)

To learn more about our Bruno mission projects, visit our “About Bruno” page. This is relevant to our Bruno 1 mission, an on-site mission that provides emergency short-term transitional housing for the homeless in partnership with A Place To Stay Blount County. Union Grove provides housing for as many as eleven APTS clients at a time. Unfortunately, we have had to suspend the mission temporarily when the outside unit for the HVAC system that heats and cools the building went down for a final, unrepairable time. Our HVAC repair providers have scoured their sources and have given us an estimate of $11,500 to $14,500 to replace the unit, depending on what size unit is installed.

Although we have received some donations toward the new unit, we are far from having enough funds to order the replacement and need your help. On its own, the church does not have the financial resources to make this repair. Donations can be made online through our account at ( If you haven’t used Tithely before, you will need to open a free account (secure and non-invasive). When you make your donation, simply choose “Bruno Fund” from the list of available options, and we’ll know you’re contributing to the HVAC system. Your donation is tax deductible. If you’re uncomfortable making donations online, you can mail a check made out to Union Grove UMC (please write BRUNO on the memo line) and send it to us at Union Grove UMC, 1151 Lane Drive, Friendsville, TN 37737.

While we are small in terms of homeless missions, we don’t charge anyone for the space we provide which helps the funds APTS has toward short-term housing go further for those properties that aren’t free use. It’s also one of the ways we are able to go outside the church building and serve the least among us.

If you are a business or organization that would consider helping us, please contact our pastor: Rev. Val Ohle, at 865-924-8339, or email her at She will be happy to set up a meeting with you and/or your board.
