Union Grove UMC re-opened for in-person worship on Sunday, May 2, 2021. For those who are unable to attend on Sunday mornings, we will be going forward as a “hybrid” church, continuing to provide online worship videos for those unable to attend regular Sunday morning services or who are not ready to venture back into public gatherings. We have temporarily suspended our worship-by-phone services while we work out some technical issues. Sunday morning services are currently live-streamed in real time through our Facebook page. Additionally, on-demand videos will continue to be posted here and on our channel at Vimeo.com. To make sure everyone hears the same message, posting of on-demand worship videos and the worship by phone audio (when it resumes) will take place within 12-48 hours of the in-person service.
Our congregation is currently 100% vaccinated. If you have not been vaccinated for COVID-19, please wear a mask when attending service or other activities at the church.
In-person worship has resumed, however videos are available with 24-48 hours of each service for those who choose to worship at home.
If you have family, friends, or neighbors that don’t have Internet access, they can call 865-995-0044 to hear a recording of the scripture readings, message, and pastoral prayer. The recordings are available within 24-48 hours of the in-person worship, and are available for approximately 1 week. Long-distance charges may apply.
We are located at 1151 Lane Dr., Friendsville TN 37737. Take US 321. Turn at the sign for Allison’s Farm & Catfish Restaurant.
UGUMC MANNA CAMPAIGN
Although Union Grove Methodist Church has been a part of the Friendsville community since 1885, its future is now uncertain. Two or more decades of transitions, the most recent occurring in June 2020 have caused a decline in both attendance and in the offerings and tithes that help to sustain her. One year, one month and four days of being limited to online only by a global pandemic didn’t help. We’re asking for your help to ensure she is able to continue its long history.
The UGUMC Manna Campaign asks for your pledge to participate in in-person worship and your pledge to contribute whatever amount you can commit to financially, with a goal of $15,000.00 per year in total pledges. We are working to ensure transparency in our finances. As of August 1, 2021, we have pledges totaling just over 50% of our annual needs. Click here for more information and to submit your pledge.
He makes all things new, and that’s especially true at Union Grove. We’ve wiped the slate clean and are in the process of rebuilding our beloved community and refocusing our mission.
A Place for All
Maybe you doubt. Maybe you’ve been hurt. Maybe you feel like you won’t fit in. Maybe you feel like you won’t be accepted. Maybe we should talk.

Our Mission, Vision, & Statement of Faith
Our mission is to serve God by sharing love and faith through the word of God.
With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our purpose is to be living examples of God’s redeeming and transforming love for all creation as we carry the Good News Jesus brought and taught us out into our community and the world, and to do good, do no harm, and love God always.
“For God so loved the world, He gave his only begotten son that whosoever should believe in him would have eternal life.”
Break Bread with Us!
LAST SUNDAY EACH MONTH
Temporarily suspended – Our monthly fellowship meals take place on the last Sunday of each month after worship service. The meals are potluck with everyone bringing their favorite dishes to share. When it’s once again safe to gather together, we hope you’ll come and break bread with us! In the meanwhile, we have a private group on Facebook specifically for virtual fellowship. Visit our Facebook page for details!
1ST SUNDAYS & HOLY DAYS
At Union Grove and all United Methodist Churches, the Lord’s Table is open to all who wish to receive communion. Currently, communion is offered as part of our regular Sunday worship on the first Sunday of each month and appropriate holy days. Communion is also a part of our first Sunday online worship. Please have juice and bread available as you watch those worship videos.
Wednesday Worship: Pray & Study
We meet on Zoom each Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. for prayer and Bible study. Wednesday Worship is open to anyone who would like to participate. Our current Bible study is on Season 1 of The Chosen. Learn more about the Bible study at uniongroveumc-friendsville.org/wednesday-worship-pray-and-study/. Meeting link: tinyurl.com/prayandstudy.
Services, Mission & Ministries

We returned to in-person worship on Sunday, May 2, 2021, but will also be continuing our online worship and worship-by-phone. Videos and audios of the worship service will be posted within 24-48 hours of in-person worship.
Make a Joyful Noise
Musical opportunities abound at Union Grove! We’re looking for a courageous volunteer to help us re-establish vocal ensembles and a handbell choir. If interested, please contact Rev. Val via the Contact Us page.
