The Church In the Grove ... Where Y'All Really Means All You're InvitedConnection CardIN-PERSON WORSHIP
Regular Sunday morning in-person worship begins at 11 a.m. each Sunday morning, followed by fellowship. Currently, however, our building is undergoing significant repairs following damage from a storm earlier this year, so our Sunday morning services are online only. We hope to return to in-person worship by mid-August. In the meanwhile, a shortened worship service is provided on our Facebook page (see “Virtual Worship”).
Once each month we also meet in-person at 3 p.m. ET for Second Sunday Community Church at The Bird & The Book, 1509 E Broadway, Maryville, TN. Second Sundays (always taking place on the 2nd Sunday of the month) are Christian services that affirm every gender, sexuality, gender presentation and background in a safe place.
Communion is offered to all who wish to receive it at all Union Grove UMC in-person worship services including Second Sundays. Kids young and old are welcome. Membership is not required. We encourage you to come as your authentic self! Sunday morning worship is more “traditional” in nature while Second Sundays are a bit more laid back, although not true “contemporary” worship.

VIRTUAL WORSHIP
For those who are unable to attend our in-person worship services due to conflicting work schedules, physical difficulties, or health risks, we are a “hybrid” church, continuing to provide online worship & activities. Worship services are currently live-streamed in real time through our Facebook page. The Facebook recordings are eventually embedded here on our website along with a transcript of the scriptures and message, and are also uploaded to our channel at Vimeo.com.
In addition to our online worship services, from mid-September to mid-May you’ll have the opportunity to participate in virtual small groups. Small groups are just that – groups of people who share a common interest in the focus of each group they join. Past choices have included Wednesday in the Word Bible Study, Thomas Talks: Doubts Worth Discussing, and Java With Abba (God-loving, Christ-following friends who gather to talk about whatever comes to mind), and we’re more than willing to help organize a small group based on your interests or needs as well. Our small groups usually take place on weekday evenings via Zoom. We also maintain active social media presences on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and TikTok.
Looking Foward
He makes all things new, and that’s especially true at Union Grove. We’ve wiped the slate clean and are in the process of rebuilding our beloved community and refocusing our mission.
A Place for All
Maybe you doubt. Maybe you’ve been hurt. Maybe you feel like you won’t fit in. Maybe you feel like you won’t be accepted. Maybe we should talk.

Our Mission, Vision, & Statement of Faith
Our mission is to serve God by sharing love and faith through word and deed.
With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our purpose is to be living examples of God’s redeeming and transforming love for all creation as we carry the Good News Jesus brought and taught us out into our community and the world, and to do good, do no harm, and love God always.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, He gave his only begotten son that whosoever should believe in him would have eternal life.”

fellowship following worship
Come and break bread with us! While we aren’t currently having potluck dinners, we do meet after worship each week to share homemade desserts and for fellowship. If you worship online with us, we have a private group on Facebook accessible through our Facebook page, and will be introducing new online fellowship opportunities soon!
Communion
At weekly worship & High Holy Days
At Union Grove and all United Methodist Churches, the Lord’s Table is open to all who wish to receive communion. Communion is offered as part of our regular Sunday worship and on other appropriate holy days. Virtual worshippers are invited to participate by having juice and bread available wherever you are worshipping.
