About UGUMC Missions

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” — Mark 10:45

Here at UGUMC, we are a mission minded church. Our projects are determined by available resources (human, logistical, and financial). We believe that when you see a need, you should do your best to meet that need, and we try to put our faith into action whenever possible. Our most recent efforts toward “faith in action” include becoming a sponsor of the Maryville College Pride Club,  the Bruno Projects we’re currently carrying out with other community partners like A Place to Stay, and restocking the church library with a diverse catalog of books, especially those that may have become unavailable through school and public libraries. Additional mission work is accomplished by contributing 100% of the Second Sunday Community Church offering receipts to relevant organizations such as JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians) Smoky Mountain and the Rainbow Youth Project. We also provide annually updated opportunities for individual mission work through our Pray.Act.Give. page where you’ll find suggestions and resources for a number of other community needs, and we’re open to suggestions for future missions, so leave a comment, contact us through the chat feature on any of posts to this page, or fill out the connection card at the bottom of this page.

If you’re not able to participate in one of the group mission opportunities below, but still want to reach out to others, you can make a designated offering to our mission work through our account at Tithely. Just visit https://tithe.ly/give?c=4118449 and follow the instruction for making your offering. When asked which fund, please choose from “Bruno Projects,” “Church Library,” or “Second Sunday Community Church” so we know where you want your donation to go. There is no fee for the account or for making your offering through Tithe.ly.

If you are not comfortable using a debit or credit card online, you can mail your offerings/tithes to:

Union Grove UMC
1151 Lane Drive
Friendsville, TN 37737

Please be sure to make your checks payable to “Union Grove UMC Friendsville“ and please write “Bruno Projects,” Second Sunday,” or “Church Library” on the memo line.

“I have one life and one chance to make it count for something . . . I’m free to choose what that something is, and the something I’ve chosen is my faith. Now, my faith goes beyond theology and religion and requires considerable work and effort. My faith demands — this is not optional — my faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.”
